I wanted to create a pen with an Egyptian theme, and pondered many designs over a period of nearly two years. Finally, the idea of suggesting a column from an Egyptian temple came to mind. I studied photos and drawings of the many columns, capitals, and footings, and arrived at this design.
The capital, which is removable, is based on the Egyptian palm leaf style, and the cartouche of Thoth, the god who invented writing, is embedded on the cap.
The nib is a Schmidt gold-filled #5. I have found these nibs to be extremely smooth writers. The nib is available in Fine, Medium, or Broad width. Also available as a rollerball with a Schmidt 888 refill.
The fountain pen is $89 plus actual mailing cost.
The rollerball pen is $79 plus actual mailing cost.
